Insurance

There are two misconceptions regarding routine dental benefits:

  • My dental plan covers two check-ups per year.
This states they will cover two exam fees. Our pediatric doctors recommend a dental exam, dental cleaning, fluoride treatment and dental films at each recare visit. All these services may not be covered or a covered benefit with your dental carrier and may depend upon your coverage year. We recommend you review your dental benefits prior to scheduling. Any amount not covered, is your responsibility.
  • My dental plan covers 100% of check-ups and 80% of everything else.
These percentages are all based upon your dental plan UCR (usual and customary fee). The UCR fee is determined by your dental plan and is not always the fee charged. Any amount over your benefit UCR is your responsibility. Children's Dental Center uses the tooth colored filling material (composite) for all fillings. There is a fee difference from using this material. Most dental plans make the allowance for an amalgam (silver) filling.

For the above reasons, that is why you will receive a statement for any balance due. Our office will collect only a percentage of the dental fee when treatment is completed for your child. This is NOT considered your entire portion due. Your portion due is determined upon receipt of the dental benefit payment.

Additionally, we will submit all insurance claims for you. We will fully attempt to help you receive full insurance benefits; however, you are personally responsible for your account, and we encourage you to contact us if your policy has not paid within 30 days.
